BIOGRAPHY
Jake Sasfai is an American writer, artist, and educator. He has worked in various positions in customer service as well as in education and music publishing. Jake has ample experience as a private tutor, a music teacher, a bartender, a model, and a performing artist.
Born in Summit, New Jersey in 1999, Jake grew up in nearby Maplewood, New Jersey. He graduated cum laude from the Montclair Kimberley Academy in Montclair, New Jersey in 2017, then from Columbia University in New York City in 2021. He received a bachelor’s degree in Comparative Literature and Society, an interdisciplinary specialization that consists of analyzing works from each of the humanities and investigating their effects on different societies and cultures around the world. He earned his degree with a Concentration in History, specializing in the United States during the 20th century.
In 2024, Jake moved to Paris to teach English in a French public high school. He reinvigorated his Christian faith in Europe and discovered his call to ministry while worshipping at the American Church in Paris and the Église Saint-Sulpice. He is now enrolled in the Princeton Theological Seminary in New Jersey, where he will be pursuing a Master’s degree in Divinity.
Jake has experience tutoring several subjects, of which are English language (all levels), French language (all levels), American history, world literatures, maths, biology, essay writing, study skills, and organizational planning. He is also certified to teach English as a foreign language.
Jake has performed with several music groups at venues in New York City and New Jersey since 2017. He performs jazz piano, as well as rock, pop, and dance music. Jake has participated in and been recognized by numerous prestigious jazz programs and organizations across the United States, such as Jazz House Kids, New York Jazz Symposium, Brubeck Jazz Summit, National YoungArts Foundation, and Vail Jazz Workshop. He has also contributed award-winning musical scores to several independent films, and has experience teaching piano and music theory in both Brooklyn, New York and in Paris, France.
Jake speaks French fluently and Russian conversationally. He will study Biblical Hebrew and Ancient Greek at seminary, and plans to learn Spanish and Italian as well.
Jake is available for hire as a private tutor, a model, a performing musician, and a bartender for private events. He tutors students in middle school, high school, and at university both online and face-to-face in the NJ/NYC area. He plays jazz piano for private events and bartends others as well.
